Five weeks till Gradshow kicks off. I’ve been plugging away at my projects and they’re coming along. Enthusiasm is starting to run a little thin though. Thinking I gave myself too much time for each of them. Case in point the above WIP. I keep getting sidetracked by warmups. I’m still pretty chuffed with the bust of Patrick Stewart that I did a while back, but now I’m not sure if it wouldn’t be a better idea to follow though with this one.
So I ran into a problem while I was tying to blend textures in Maya. I was able to blend the textures in the view port, but it would only render under Maya Software. Which sucks. I managed to figure it out after an hour of prodding.
It comes down to painting the textures using the Maya “BlendColors” utility and switching it up with Mib_color_mix and making sure that “Mode0” is set to mix before you render it.
I’m sure there are more elegant ways of doing this. I couldn’t find any.
So gradshow is only six weeks off and the pages for our class catalogue are only four. I’m waist deep in about 3 projects of around this level of completeness.
Rigging and idle cycles are pretty much done for this one, but I have to go back and fix wights, textures and normal maps. Still need to go in and make a proper stand as well.
